•  38% - lone-parent families living in poverty  (2000)
•  27,080- tenant households (43.2%) paying over 30% of income on rent  in 2001
• 19% - households with incomes under $20,000 in 2001
• 2,653 – number of individuals that accessed emergency shelter services in 2005
• 35% to 40% - estimated percentage of people experiencing homelessness using formal shelter services that have mental health issues
• 214 beds – year round shelter capacity (+ 4 self-contained family units and access to motels in times of overflow)

• 3,000 to 3,500 - waiting list for Community Housing
• 3.3% -  the Kitchener CMA vacancy rate for private apartments in 2006
• 6% - increase in average rents for a 2-bedroom apartment in Kitchener CMA between 2004 and 2005 (highest in Canada.
