HSTC Workshops: Winter/Spring 2017

HHUG’s Housing Stability Training Centre (HSTC) is offering a number of valuable workshops for our Winter/Spring season!

This year we’ve added the Full and VI- SPDAT (Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool) to our training line-up.

What is SPDAT?

SPDAT is an evidence-based assessment tool being used across Waterloo Region to prioritize and coordinate services to people experiencing homelessness.

The Vulnerability Index (VI) is a pre-screening tool that identifies the presence of an issue and is used in Level 2 programs like shelter, street outreach, and Housing Resource Centres.

The Full SPDAT identifies the depth of an issue and is used in Level 3 programs like Housing Help Plus, and Level 4 programs like CHPI Supportive Housing and STEP Home.

How long does SPDAT training take?

The Full SPDAT training takes an entire day. Formal training is required by anyone who completes them.

We’re also offering two-hour workshops for the VI – SPDAT, which includes versions for families, youth, and single adults. While formal training is not required, it is recommended.

What other HSTC workshops are being offered?

The Residential Tenancy Act (RTA) and the Housing Stability System (HSS) overview sessions are also available.
